I first discovered the magic of sewing when I was four and made an apron for my doll, Lulu, with my great grandmother, MaJack. I found a scrap of fringed avocado green polyester in her scrap stash that was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. MaJack had endless patience with my need to do everything completely by myself, so she talked me through hand stitching a ribbon waistband. I was completely enamored with my creation and got my first taste of that “I MADE THIS MYSELF!!!!” feeling.

38 years later, I have all sorts of machines and make bags, clothing, home decor, stuffed animals, and quilts, but my favorite project of all time is still Lulu’s green apron.

I love teaching sewing to others and seeing them have their own “I MADE THIS MYSELF!!!!” moments. In early 2022 I decided that I wanted to expand my audience and started making TikTok videos so that I could show people how they too can create incredible things, whether they have a fancy fabric stash or a pile of old clothes and sheets from the thrift store. I’ve made amazing connections with sewists all over the world and look forward to continuing to grow my platform and share my joy of sewing with more people each day.
